Southwest Community Concert Band Celebrates its 30th Anniversary Season
The Southwest Community Concert Band performs 4 Seasonal Concerts, Summer Park Concerts and hosts Winter Band Day for grades 6th – 9th, and a Summer Band Camp for 1st year band students through 9th grade musicians throughout the season. CURRENT NEWSWinter Band Day - January 21, 2012Band Day is a non-competitive festival designed to promote the enjoyment of music among junior high/middle school band students. This one day event offer students a unique opportunity to learn and perform new and challenging music. Students gain a sense of accomplishment, meet new friends and have a fun day of music making.
STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPSThe Southwest Community Concert Band has 4 annual student scholarships to help our efforts to promote concert band music throughout the surrounding communities. Scholarship forms and applications available March 1, 2012 GIFT CARDS NOW AVAILABLEThe Southwest Community Concert Band now has gift cards available for you to purchase for any 6th – 9th grade student to attend our: 16th Annual Winter Band Day, January 21, 2012 for $15.00 (Full payment) 5th Annual Summer Band Camp, June 25-29, 2012 (desired amount or full payment) You may also sponsor to gift the program fee for a child to attend either event in your name, company name, or anonymously. The Southwest community Concert Band is offering band camp, open to music students entering their 2nd year in a music program through 9th grade. Instructors are dedicated, highly qualified music educators / performers from the Chicago area. The goal of our Summer Band Camp program is to promote music education through a positive experience structured to help students develop their musical talents. We will also be offering an optional Jazz Band or Improvisational classes for interested students.
